Day 57 - Sierra Blanca to El Paso

Wednesday. May 12.

Today was a long hard slog. Winds were once again forecast from the West, and our entire day was headed that direction.

I was still feeling less than prime, so most of today was spent drafting on Jake's back wheel.

We stopped for lunch in Fort Hancock and had pizza at a pretty decent place.

Many of the miles today were on the interstate, which helped tremendously. The road is generally smooth, and is generally flatter than other roads.

As we neared El Paso, we stopped often to take breaks.

The continued to increase on the way into the city, but luckily we were staying at a RV park on the southwest side of town. The RV park is right at the start of the "Anthony Gap Alternate" which lets us mostly skip El Paso.

The park was pretty decent. It had what we wanted. Clean showers, flat ground, close to the route and wireless internet.

We were also up on a hill, and able to see the lights of El Paso/Juarez. From a safe distance of course. There were more than a few military helicopters flying around during the night.

Day 57 - 77.91 Miles
Trip to Date - 3099.05 miles
Coast to Coast - 2096.60 miles
